Really? In a country that brags about its freedoms, someone who uses a plant for recreation should be a criminal?

1 point

Legalize pot= eliminate drug violence, but don't allow th gov. to regulate anything

1 point

True, but drugs can also open up your mind; exibit A: Bob Marley

1 point

I disagree; a lot of the people who do it now do it because it is illegal. People who sell it can make more money if it is illegal. There should be freedom; legalize pot

2 points

We, as a country, claim to be the "land of the free." Prohibition violates this sentiment. Both marijuana and alcohol shouldbe legal. Cigarettes, which are deady, adictive, and without any benefits, are legal, so pot, which at least has some medicinal purposes, should be legal. The war on drugs is a failing and bleeding cost on the American people. Pot should be legal.

Lesson in US history: War defines the US, war made the US, war will destroy the US

1 point

Right on! Lets look at who the US is hated by, many middle eastern countries because we entered into wars over there for greedy purposes and ruined their way of life. Its only a matter of time before its the US (and maybe Britain if we are lucky) against the world

1 point

Very true, the progressive movement saved the US from becoming a rubish pit. But, I think we need another one; we need to become more liberal about immigration and human rights and we need to become more peaceful

1 point

"Great" Nation? How do wars, colonies and imperialism make a country great?

1 point

Exactly, we don't even know who destroyed it, or even if it was an accident, we just ran in shooting at whoever was the closest and biggest target

1 point

WHAT? So we needed a WAR so that we can have peace? What peace do we have now? We nver have peace.

1 point

Yes it was,and that led to more problems afterward because of the imperialism

1 point

Child Labor is better, if you're in the US, but, because of our demand on foreign made goods, such as Nike, we are causing more child labor in developing lands. This child labor is worse, almost like slae labor

1 point

The only difference between today's media and the media of the Jungle is that was muckraking, while tday I think we are going back towards yellow journalism and while we may be keeping the gov. "change" it's a biased influence

1 point

Why? why didwe need to prove ourselves? Did it make the world a better place? No, it got us more enemies though. Instead of proving ourselves through war (which we have been doing since our beginning) why don't we try peace for a change

1 point

The Revolutionary War let other countries know that the US wasn't going to back down; the Spanish American war just showed that we were wreckless, ruthless, and a little bit insane

1 point

If US didn't get involvedw/ WWI, there would be no WWII, Korean,Cold, Vietnam, or Middle East wars

1 point

WWI was one of the dumbest things the US has ever gotten itself into, probably even worse than the war in Iraq.

1 point

True, this war may have been the cause for all of our following wars. We wouldn't have needed to protect our terriories in WWI &IIif;we didn't have them.

7 points

We still need to have a progressive atitude so we don't lose the progress we have made.

Civil rights need to be protected and expanded to immigrants, both legal and illegal, because it is unfair to withold certain opportunities from someone just because they were born on the wrong side of a man-made line. We should allow free movement to this "free"country.

Also, th environmnt needs to be protected more than ever. Creation of jobs doesn't really matter if the earth is ruined and we don't have a place to work.

I think we should legalize marijuana because we allow smoking and alcohol, which both have certain dangers

Other countries need to have progressive movements too.

1 point

Unions do give some power to workers, but for non-unionized workers, life can suck because of job competition.

1 point

I partially agree with you, business wners should not be trusted, but entire unions might be a little too much

1 point

Collective bargaining supports the worker so they have a say in their own job

1 point

True, collective bargaining helps the worker to support their own rights
