Unions could still be needed for factory and manufacturing jobs, where people work with their hands and really depend on the right working conditions and benefits. These people could sustain injuries from faulty machinery, for example, and the employer might not provide compensation or fix the machine if there were no unions supporting strikes and better conditions. But I also think that unions should divide their members into groups based on things like productivity, skill, merit, and seniority, and advocate the right conditions for those groups. Side: yes

Why would we need unions when the government already issued good working conditions laws? We have minimum wage laws, child labor laws, and safety laws. Your chances of getting fired after doing a good job at your job is slim. So, don't worry about getting fired. I think the government is doing a fine job with these laws, so there is no need for unions when they do the same exact thing. Side: No

I disagree because an employer isnt going to fire a person who has been there a long time if that person does a good job and works hard everyday. I think the employer should have the right to fire somone if they are not working as hard. If an employee works but not to their full potential then they should be fired so a person that will work their hardest everyday can have the job. Side: No

I think that unions are still needed. Now adays we have much better working conditions so they aren't necessarily needed for that, but they are still needed. With different unions you can have different benefits and unions keep everyone in control, so all of the power doesn't go to one person. Side: yes

Without unions workers wouold have no control over their work lives. They could not say if they want vacation, sick days, or personal days. The business owners would have total control and you couldn't do anything about it. Unions are definitely still needed for the workers rights. Side: yes
I think that unions are needed and not needed because people who want to work should be paid over 7.25 an hour only if they work for it and dont complane. For the people who do not put effort into there work they should not get paid as much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Side: yes
I agree with you because the Unions do control our rights and they help us be able to support our families much better I think, and I believe that they control things so it's all pretty much even between social classes, one person can not make "too much" money, it kind of gets evened out. Side: yes
I think that Unions are still needed in the U.S. They are needed because Unions raise the wages for more low and middle class workers. The Union would set standards for all work places like pensions, wage premiums, and benifits. A Union would make a cushion for all work places to fall back on because they support them. Unions would make work places in the U.S easier. Side: yes

I agree. I think that if there were no unions there would be alot of workers that would be on strikes and not at work because if the union did not fight for wages or stuff like that the workers would be working for nothing. If there was not a union, the wealthy business owners would have alot of power and the workers would not be able to do anything about it because there would be no unions. Side: yes
I think unions are still needed because I people might become like a robber baron. But yet the world has changed so I think we don’t need them (that’s my opinion of the normal Chad Benti, not the unionized worker). But as the unionized worker, I think we need them because people might think their money is more important then people. Side: yes

Unions are in place for reasons that I could not understand why anyone, except if you were saddistic, would say that they are no longer needed. Unions are one of the best ways that we, as citizens, can demonstrate our right to freedom of speech. Without unions, employees would be slaves to factories. Imagine not having a union: no holidays, no workers comp., dangerous working conditions, long hours, and no mercy for the employees. Side: yes
I am all for the creation of the Union. They are greatly need because the work conditions of how the kids are treated in the factories is just plain terrible. For all of the things that we have to do, it's just terrible. They would hopefully help with the work conditions and payment so that we can have a better life for my family, because every little bit counts at this point in life. Side: yes

I beleive Unions are still needed. I don't think they're needed for working conditions and/or minimum wage. But, I think they're still needed to prevent business owners from trying to cheat their workers. If there were no unions, then what would be stopping an owner from firing an employee who'd been working for them for 15 years for someone new to do the same job for less money? The employee would have to find another job and start from scratch. Side: yes

I think that unions are still needed in the work world today. Unions make communications between big bussiness owners and workers easier and also more civilized. It prevents bussiness from taking too much power by putting some of the power into the hands of employes. By doing this the employes have influence on the decisions of the bussiness owners. So when the bussiness owners make their final decision it is less likely for there to be distpute between workers and owners by making both parties happy, in most cases. Side: yes

I don't agree with you that the businesses take too much power if there is not a union. I think the company will actually treat you better if your not fighting against them. If you treat them good the companies will treat you good too. Also, the goverment has put so many restrictions on companies that it is very nice compared to with no restrictios back in the early 1900's. Side: No
In the past it didn't matter how you treated the businesses, they didn't care. They treated you how they wanted to and you had to deal with it because you needed to support your family. Unions are definitely still needed to keep the working field fair. Without unions businesses wouldn't be required to do anything for you or even to treat you fairly. So why would you want to take unions away from us? Side: yes

It's true that the working conditions of our country are better. Just because it's better doesn't mean that it's all resolved. Without any unions at all, business owners would have more control and things could go really wrong. Unions follow structure that allows the workers to have some sort of opinion on what's going on. It also keeps workers as well as business owners regulated in hours, pay, vacation, and many other things. Side: yes

I don't think that unions are still needed. During industrialization unions were needed to get better working conditions. Now we have laws that insure good working conditions. There is a minimum wage law and safety laws. There are also child safety laws that limit how many hours can be worked. Unions no longer need to negotiate for what they want because the government controlls what happens at the workplace. Side: No
Unions are not just used for working conditions and regulating wages. They are also involved in vacation days, sick days, tax reforms, as well as retirement benifits. With out unions bussinesses would have full power over workers and the employes would have nothing to say about it without being uncivil. Side: yes
In general, I don't think unions are still completely necessary. There are a lot of companies that are viewed as ridiculously wealthy, and if these companies didn't give their workers good benefits and rights and stuff, people would just think the companies are stingy. Nobody wants to do business with a cheap-at-the-money company. Kohler, for example provides excellent conditions for all workers, and it's mostly because of Mr. Kohler, not unions. Side: No
I dont think that Unions are needed because they allready made an impact on the working world and their time is over. We dont need them anymore for anything. Unions already made minimum wage, social security payments, an eight hour day and weekends, overtime pay. what else do we need a union for? Side: No

We need them for the balance of equality and power. If unions are illiminated all together, business owners would have to much power over the employees. Unions help create specilized jobs and create a way to better sort out hard workers from people that would rather not work. Side: yes

I don't think that unions are needed anymore, because people now have more training and specialize in different areas and I don't think that everyone should get paid the same for different jobs. Now that machines do most of the factory work today, people need to be able to process and be educated in many areas in order to get a job, so they would have to go to college and then that gives you a big loan to try to pay back, that's why you should get a higher raise than someone who didn't go to college. And that is what unions believe in, equal pay no matter how much training you need. Side: No

I don't believe that we still need unions. With all of the laws we have now, minumum wage, child laws, and saftey laws, there is no need for the unions to negotiate the working conditions when we already have good ones. The government is doing a good job of creating good working conditions for the workers. Side: No
But without unions workers would have no say in anything. Business owners wouldn't have to give them vacation days, sick days, or anything. It wouldn't be fair. Unions keep it fair and allow workers to be treated like, well, human beings. Just because we have so many laws now doesn't mean you have to get rid of unions. Side: yes

I dont think that unions are still needed. I believe that unions don't help at all. They are actually worse in some cases. Unions seperate the company which makes the company weaker and more likely to fall. I believe that unions are helping companies fall to the ground not help workers get what they want. If workers really want to shut down a business, join a union and watch it fall. I do not think that unions are need because it doesn't always lead to a positive change sometimes it is a negative change. Side: No
I think unions are not needed because children have laws for minimum age to work and how long you can work. also theres laws for minimum wage and working condition. If they fire you for no real reason theres laws for that to where you can get you job back if they have no legit excuse for firing you. Side: No

I don't think unions are needed as much today. In my place of work, tile work, unions actually hurt our business, because they add competitioon to the field. Some factories may still need unions to keep working standards up so we dont go back to what it was like during the industrial rev. Side: No
I think that they would be good to have around but people are gaining rights as it is and for the most part i think that people won't be paid like that anymore because if you think about it, back then the companies that were unfairly treating their workers because the laws around them werent developed yet. now there are laws to stop this from happening. No, they should not be needed. It will only disturb the public and our businesses. It is important to keep everything going and not hesitating over a step. That step is to pass the unions. If they don't like the jobs, leave, quit. I've made my point in many other of the debates about why this is exactly why I would hired immigrants instead. Side: No

We are increasing in unemployment because of union I say NO to Union!!!!!! Side: No
